  • The BYKE Network consists of 20 Lines that are certified by Boynton Yards personnel to be the safest, most efficient and most pleasant journeys between the Boynton Yards community and given bike-proximate waypoints. BYKE Connections

The BYKE Network has been designed to fully incorporate rapidly improving bike infrastructure throughout Greater Boston. Note the following types of riding environments you will experience while riding BYKE.

Byke Protection

Dedicated Path

Completely separated from automobile traffic. Conditions you will find on rail trails such as the Minuteman Bikeway and Somerville Community Paths, and along the Charles River.

Protected Lane

Alongside a road but separated from moving and parked automobiles by a physical barrier or curb level difference. Increasingly replacing older, painted bike lanes throughout the region.

Separated Lane

Bike lane on road separated from moving traffic by a painted lane though, in this instance, not referring to paths that move riders alongside parked cars (which will be the next category).

Door Zone Lane

Painted lane on road between travel and parking lanes. NOTE: BYKE Lanes minimize this type of travel. Where unavoidable, reduce speed and keep an eye on parked cars.

Learn more about the BYKE Network and how to use it, get familiar with your line with a virtual ride, get inspired with a short reel, and see short videos with quick tips and pointers that will help you ride more efficiently and enjoyably.
